Saturday 2nd November was always going to be a massive date in Jessica and Dan’s calendar. It was also the day that England would lose in the final of the Rugby World Cup to South Africa. I arrived at their home in Leicester to find Dan, his Groomsmen and Dad all glued to the TV barely noticing the pouring rain outside. As I left the house, to head to Jessica at her parent’s home, I did ask Dan given one wish today, would it be for England to win the World Cup or for the rain to stop? I’m pleased to say he went for the latter and I’m so thankful that he did. Shortly after, I arrived at Jessica’s family home to a lovely hustle and bustle atmosphere with lots of little ones running around. Dad watched the second half of the rugby as Jessica got “made up” by her sister into a beautiful bride.
The quaint Normanton Church set on a jetty jutting into Rutland Water was where Jessica and Dan tied the knot. The rain had stopped (Thanks Dan!) but the 40mph winds were something else! I hadn’t seen anything like it before as the water gusted over the path to the church presenting quite an obstacle for guests. They totally smashed it and looked almost like they enjoyed it. Good northerners! Family and friends soon forgot the weather as they packed into the cosy church. It was clear how much this day meant and as Jessica walked down the aisle with her Dad into this beautiful setting; you could feel the emotion from both Bride and Groom. A few tears, a tremendous personalised reading by Jessica’s grandma and the signing of the register followed. Back up the aisle to hugs galore and out into the stormy weather officially as Mr and Mrs. Jessica, Dan and all their guests were fab and we managed a group photograph and some portraits in the wind. The only thing lost was Jess’s veil as it blew away into the depths of Rutland Water; she laughed and smiled through it all. Despite all this excitement, it was good to get inside Normanton Park Hotel just so that we could defrost a little before heading back outside to sunshine for confetti and more groups. Jessica and Dan were great to work with and willingly took time out for me to capture some beautiful images at a perfect time of day when the light was generous. There was a real positive energy to the day which flowed into the evening and it was fab to see people truly enjoying each other’s company. The newlyweds looked so happy as they danced around the floor to their first dance tune played by The Verzions. Great sound, great band who kept that “pumped up” vibe going all evening!
All in all a beautifully perfect day. Jessica + Dan, you are such a gorgeous couple who looked like you loved it all! LOVE was the energy that held it all together. Such a joy to be part of it, thank you very much. xx
