Our first time at Hazel Gap barn, the beautifully lit carefully restyled barn conversion in Nottinghamshire. When Nicola and Matt first booked us at the Save the Date wedding fair, the venue of their choice was was yet to be opened to the public! To finally see the grounds established and be there shooting a wedding was fab.
The day started for them both at hotels nearby, Nicola with her bridesmaid and bridesman and Matt with his best man and usher. A nice tight knit bridal party around them whilst getting ready for the biggest day of their lives! The room where Nicola transformed into a stunning bride was fun and relaxed. Nicola looked amazing . . . in her Maggie Sottero blush laced sweetheart dress; finished off perfectly with a bright sunny spring flower bouquet. Matt meanwhile readied himself just down the road with an attentive groom’s party to hand with one or two calming toasts!
Guests arrived, followed by the Groom and then the Bride. The dramatic light in the Ceremony room was wonderful to capture as Nicola walked down the aisle with her dad and then back through a pool of light arm in arm with her husband Matt. Having declared themselves husband and wife Nicola and Matt shared a splendid afternoon milling with their guests. We couldn’t resist making the most of a few of the areas within the grounds and took Matt and Nicola off for some quiet time, well quietish as they were so full of beans with excitement. We think Nicola is one of the most excited brides we’ve photographed which was so lovely to see. Although it had been a pretty grey day we were just happy that the rain stayed away and couldn’t believe it when we saw a tinge of orange peering through the tree line at sunset! After a fabulous meal the day slipped into evening and party time. The first dance quickly transformed in to a Ceilidh and before we knew it everybody was up having a go. Brilliant!
Nicola and Matt everything about your day was perfectly considered; we loved your colourful flowers by Mrs Umbels, choice of venue, cookie shelf by Yummy Little Cakes, “where on earth are you sitting?” table plan and your homemade crocheted “Nicola and Matt” <3. Everybody made us feel so welcome and we particularly noted your love for life and each other! We wish you every bit of happiness together. xx
