On an extremely beautiful Saturday at the beginning of September we had the pleasure of being involved in Grace & Ashley’s wedding based around the tranquil Leicestershire village of Tugby. The service was held in the St Thomas a Becket Church on Main Street, a short walk from the Bride’s family home where she got ready with her entourage of bridesmaids, bromaids and dogs. Grace was to emerge from this environment looking sleek, stylish and stunning. Ashley and his Groomsmen played a round of golf in the morning, returning to their hired country cottage in the next village to get ready. Listening to music and taking in the odd dram they were soon on their way to the Church. The Bridal party’s walk to Church was so relaxed and the dogs, with their flower garlands and bow ties, particularly enjoyed this stroll. Some wedding ceremonies can be quite formal and sombre. Grace and Ashley had opted for non religious songs to be sung and chose a couple of really popular hits they assumed everyone would know. Eh wrong . . . . the Bride and Groom, Reverend, and congregation all broke into fits of laughter as beyond the chorus of ‘All you need is love ‘ the singing dropped to a whisper only to pick up again when the chorus came round. Brilliant fun. Everyone took this in great spirit and after the service, the wedding throng walked back through the village with the new Mr and Mrs Perry.
The family home had been styled wonderfully by Eve Lily and the remainder of the event was set against this sophisticated country cottage background. Interesting textures and palettes are never far away in the countryside, and it was great to sneak off a short distance with the couple for the chance to do some portrait work. With us all back at the house, the loving and fun atmosphere continued with speeches that brought tears and laughter. As day melted into night the wedding shifted into party mode and the cottage transformed itself into a canvas of atmospheric lighting set against a beautiful darkening sky. Cue dancing, drinking and good times.
Two beautiful families, loads of gorgeous friends and a perfectly planned day. We always say that a truly fab wedding day comes down to a combination of styling, setting and people. On this occasion Grace & Ashley knocked it out the park and we were so lucky to be part of it!
