Well here goes . . . the wedding of Andjelka & Nik and our very first time at a Greek wedding. This journey with these two has been a lovely one. They booked us about two years ago and have kept us in the loop right up until 3 weeks ago when they tied the knot in a really interesting Greek Orthodox service at St Nicholas Church, Aylestone Road, Leicester. The fabulously ornate Greek Church on a busy city centre road was a true delight inside and the service itself was great to capture and a rare treat as photographers to have the freedom to roam. There was a real traditional element to the ceremony that clearly had been passed from one generation to the next; the wearing of the crowns, the kissing of the book and the circular walking around the altar. Bride and groom both looked every bit the picture, Nik dressed in a three piece navy suit with polka dot tie and on his arm Andj looking top dollar in a ruffled dress and dramatic beautiful make up.
There was a lovely atmosphere and a real buzz during the ceremony and as soon as they became husband and wife they were congratulated, hugged and kissed by their guests a lot and we mean a lot! After these congratulations we all headed up the M1 to their reception at Osmaston Park.
A stunning location framed by glorious weather saw their guests gently mingling whilst we stole Andj and Nik for a trip down to the old mill. Great backdrop! Just when we thought things couldn’t get anymore Greek, the entrance into the wedding breakfast with a dance around the dance floor, clapping audience and lots of whooping set the sense for the second half of the day. The obligatory speeches were followed by more Greek dancing and then the “the money dance”. Mental and brilliant! I have never seen so many £50 notes hanging off somebody!!
We always walk away from a wedding feeling blessed to have such a brilliant job that takes us to some wonderful places to spend time with lovely people and share in a really important day. This one was right on the money . . . . literally! Andj & Nik we wish you an amazing future together.
