Sikh wedding ceremony in Gravesend / Lucy & Kulvinder

Last weekend saw the start of the marriage celebrations for Lucy & Kulvinder with a Sikh Ceremony in Gravesend at the biggest Sikh temple in Europe! What a venue and I couldn’t have been blessed with a nicer couple.

Whilst Lucy was hidden away in a room on the third tier of the building, Kulvinder along with his family and two sisters walked towards the temple to a procession of drums. At the entrance of the Temple they were greeted by Lucy’s family and friends and garland rituals were exchanged between the two families. With a fusion of cultures, families and colour, this ceremony offered a truly atmospheric day. Emotions heightened as Lucy’s brothers and Dad were sent to get her and the beautiful bride made her entrance into the grand hall. Kulvinder looking contemplative and straight ahead resisted the urge to turn and look at his wife to be. One of my favourite images from the day is the first glance between the two of them as Lucy took a seat next to Kulvinder.  A moving and traditional Sikh service proceeded with a happy bride and groom naturally taking centre stage.

Thank you for inviting me to capture and share your special day, I truly loved the experience. It filled me with great anticipation for Part II. xx
