Rachel & Scott got married on Friday 16th September, at the end of a week blessed by sunshine. No getting away from it, on this occasion the morning started wet . . . very wet; but to their credit Rachel and Scott never let their spirits drop.
Bride and Groom to be got themselves ready in Glenfield, their home and where Scott’s family live. I met Rachel during the process of her having her hair and make up styled. It was all very chilled, her two bridesmaids, cousin and Scott’s daughter adding to the relaxed atmosphere. To be honest, it pretty much stayed like that up until the last minute before Rachel left her home looking dynamite in her Sottero and Midgley dress. In contrast Marco, my second shooter had arrived to a house full at Scott’s mums home. With Scott having three sons and one grandson, it was a very family orientated male environment. All dressed and pretty much ready they left and headed to the pub to meet friends and guests in Swithland. The service was held at St Leonards Church in Swithland, just a few yards from their venue of The Griffin Inn. I think reality set in as Rachel stepped out of the car, and a very emotional Bride entered the church. A beautiful marriage service followed. Unfortunately for us, this was another church service where our shooting options were greatly reduced. Restricted to the back of the church we did our best to capture what we could.
The location for the reception was The Griffin Inn in Swithland; a beautiful barn conversion attached to the back of the village pub. Just like magic the newlyweds arrived and brought with them the sunshine. Phew! I’ve never been so pleased for a couple. We made the most of it by shooting the couple using the backdrop of a disused farm. Lovely contrast here with rust and scratched paint against elegant menswear and a beautiful bride in her delicate laced strappy dress. With loving family and friends around them a relaxed chilled out vibe was the flavour of the day. The speeches after the meal were entertaining with the highlight being Scott’s brother and the Best Man. He certainly was armed with lots of ammunition!
Everybody looked like they were having a great time and most importantly so did the two of you. It was a pleasure to be part of your day and capture it for you. Congratulations xx
